October 10th 2026: Our doctoral research fellow, Eleonora Grammatikou, participated in a workshop organized and hosted by the Tucher Cultural Foundation. The workshop took place at the headquarters of the Tucher Cultural Foundation, Schoppershof Castle in Nuremberg.
The goal of the workshop was to trace the strategies employed by the Tucher family to shape their identity and traditions within the context of their material and spatial ties, thereby illustrating the various facets of the dynastic and economic representation of a Nuremberg patrician family.
These can be traced, for example, in the context of mottos, coats of arms, or trademarks on objects (paintings, arts and crafts, everyday items, etc.) or in written documents (genealogical records, family registers, memorials, paratexts, letters, etc.) from the 14th century through the early 20th century.
As part of this series, Eleonora presented her doctoral project, with the working title “The Foreign Within the Self: Otherness and Identity in the Tucher Coat of Arms.”
