Cihan Simsek

Research Assistant

As research assistant of Jun.-Prof. Julia Binter I support her in all aspects of her work by conducting literature research, involvement in projects and assisting in teaching as a tutor.

In my bachelor thesis I examined the decolonial exhibition strategies of ethnological institutions from a museological point of view. My research interest lies within the triangle of art history, museology and decolonization. How can we pinpoint the connections between ethnology and art history? In what ways can we implement decolonial perspectives into art history and museology? And which problems occur when we do so?  I am currently studying for a master’s degree in art history with the supplementary field of museum studies and I hold the position of Co-Project Manager in the student initiative LeFlash, in the context of which we also discuss postcolonial/decolonial exhibitions such as HIER UND JETZT im Museum Ludwig. Antikoloniale Eingriffe.
