We warmly invite you to join us on 19 March 2026 for a special program:
At 4 pm, artist Neyen Pailamilla will present the performance Transplant: Healing in the Mapuche Diaspora in the Botanic Gardens Bonn. In Neyen’s work, plant knowledge becomes a lived, embodied, and spiritual process unfolding between humans, plants, bodies of water, and memory. Rooted in the philosophy and spirituality of the Mapuche, the artist’s practice reflects on diaspora, displacement, and enduring connections across territories. Plants and waters appear as knowing agents that carry histories of trauma, resilience, and healing.
At the center of the performance is the Pewen (Andean pine), a sacred tree for the Mapuche and a symbol of spirituality, resistance, and collective identity. Through voice, sound, and movement, the performance creates a sensory space that emerges from the experience of living far from one’s ancestral land.
At 6 pm, the evening continues with the opening reception of the exhibition “Knowing Plants – Ecologies of Memory and Practice” at the Global Heritage Lab. The exhibition explores plant knowledge as a space of memory, relation, and healing.
We look forward to welcoming you.
