Nürnberg, 16 November 2024 – Our Doctoral Research Fellow Eleonora Grammatikou presented her PhD project, “Heritage Revisited: Cultural Identity and the Representation of People of Color – A Study of the Tucher Family Coat of Arms”, at a meeting organized by the Tucher Cultural Foundation.
Pursuing her doctorate at the University of Bonn, with support from the Tucher Cultural Foundation and the Global Heritage Lab, Eleonora’s research delves into the role of heritage in shaping identity, with a focus on how cultural symbols like the Tucher family crest have influenced perceptions of race and belonging from the 14th century to the present.
To deepen her research, Eleonora invited Tucher family members of the Foundation to participate in workshops where they can share memories and insights into their family’s heritage. These workshops offer an opportunity for family members to contribute personal stories, bringing unique perspectives that enrich the historical narrative. Eleonora’s approach aims to preserve these valuable insights for future generations, highlighting how family experiences shape and sustain cultural heritage over time.
