Humboldt Forum Namibia

The Argelander Professorship for Critical Museum and Heritage Studies in the transdisciplinary research area TRA 5 Vergangene Welten – Zeitgenössische Fragen: Kulturen in Zeit und Raum (Present Pasts) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (WHF or WHK, m/w/d, 10-19 hours/week) for support in the research, exhibition and restitution project “Confronting Colonial Pasts, Envisioning Creative Futures” on the collections from Namibia at the Ethnological Museum in Berlin. The project, funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation, aims to develop more equitable and sustainable ways of collaboratively researching, curating and returning collections from colonial contexts. Artists, communities and students in Namibia are currently researching the cultural belongings returned from Berlin to Namibia, thus reactivating knowledge with and about them. The results will be documented and reflected upon in an international anthology. The WHF/WHK will support this publication process as well as the press relations for the project.

Deadline: 15 February 2024
